Inner Spaces: Dream I

Digital print, 20 in. X 20 in. Part of an art series examining dreams and the impossible things that can occur within them. Depicted here is the famous Penrose Triangle. The aim of this series is to depict impossible things as realistically as... well, possible.

The piece was constructed like so: first, I photographed a white background several times in order to get a plain base and shadow references. Next, a I created a special 3D triangle model and rendered it with realistic textures and the camera positioned such that the illusion was achieved. Finally, I combined the background photo and the render in Photoshop, which included creating custom shadows from scratch.
